Describe briefly what you do or your business does?

Freelancer in broadcast television and no broadcast content

What has been your business journey?

I freelanced for 5 years in broadcast television, then started my own corporate film company when my children were little, then freelanced again in broadcast television once they reached School age.

Have you received support from any business support agencies, if so which ones and how have they helped (or not helped)?

For my television work, this route wasn't applicable, but for my corporate film company I had advice from Business Gateway which was very useful.

What has been the biggest lesson you have learnt in growing your business or freelance career?

Common sense, a strong work ethic and an honest approach have helped me in every job I’ve ever done (even serving Ice-cream as a teenager), and are my greatest assets.

How can the indigenous screen businesses  in Scotland become bigger, better, bolder and more successful?

That is a tricky one. We need to nurture home grown young talent, with a view to these people becoming industry leaders of tomorrow.
