Tony Morris explains the importance of identifying, protecting and managing IP and other intellectual assets in audio-visual productions to exploit them and succeed in your businesses' aims.

A film consists of a large amount of rights. The first thing you need to do is acquire these rights. You then want to own them. You then want to control them. You police and protect. And you monetise.

Tony Morris, Head of Media, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law at Marriot Harrison

He describes some practical examples in his audio presentation and you can download a PDF of his slides above.

This presentation is from the Owning Creativity event we delivered in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council in February 2012. The event introduced the importance of intellectual property (IP) and intellectual assets to the creative industries with focus on the film, TV, media and music sectors.
