Our programme of professional training and events aims to help creative individuals and businesses in any art form develop the skills to clarify their ideas, make them a reality and get them to a target audience. Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to put your work in context by introducing you to your peers for advice, information exchange and support. The events regularly run in all four cities.

Half-day events are free but we do request a £10 refundable deposit to secure your place. These events are:

Starting Out – A tailored workshop for start-up or recently established practitioners to share the experiences and realities of operating, financing and making a living from their creative practice or business.

The Next Step – A workshop for individuals and businesses who have been running their business for three years or more to take stock of their achievements to date and explore the options that lie ahead.

Making Applications & Proposals - A practical workshop for individuals on making applications and proposals for funding, commissions and residencies.

Planning Your Time & Project – A workshop providing tools to assist individuals and businesses to set a goal, plan a project and identify the resources they need to make it happen and help them stay on track. 

Once a project or business idea has been clarified, there are a number of short one-day specialist courses that allow you to address particular skills needs and provide practical tools to support and sustain your projects. There is a small cost to attend a one-day course that includes a buffet lunch. These events are:

Creating Contacts – A workshop for individuals and businesses wanting to make the most of their address book, manage mailing lists, contact the press and expand their networks confidently for the future.

Presentation Skills – A workshop for individuals and businesses to learn practical tools and techniques to help deliver effective presentations with confidence.

Market Day – A one day workshop to train creative businesses in to market their products and services.
