Sarah Raffel

Jewellery 

Sarah has been a professional designer for over 13 years. After successfully securing grants from NESTA and other funding streams she opened Brazen Studios flagship retail store and workshop incubator in Glasgow’s Merchant City. The, now, bespoke led company has relocated to the city centre and concentrates on jewellery/metalwork design and manufacture which includes collaborations with interior companies, and public organisations.

Sarah’s experience includes 10 years in retail, developing both private and commercial collections, cost analysis, professional practice and managing an effective supply chain.

Katy West

Crafts

Katy has developed parallel careers as a designer and curator, linked by her interest in objects, their history, meaning, function and application. Her curatorial projects include Modern Languages (National Craft Gallery), Transformers (National Centre for Craft and Design) and Our Objects (Mackintosh Museum).

Katy’s studio practice has involved working with Panel on Scotland Can Make It! DesignNation and the National Trust. She has exhibited in 58 Women Artists in Glasgow at the Mackintosh Museum, Red Room at the Kunstverein Hamburg and the Awards Exhibition for the British Ceramics Biennial. 

Katy is interested in fuelling debate, organising a range of dialogues that discuss process, production, ideas and concepts in collaboration with organisations including PechaKucha, Tramway and The Whisky Bond.
