David Thomson

Biography

David has been at the forefront of the Scottish games industry for the last 12 years, firstly as founder of The Games Kitchen and then in senior positions with Slam and Denki. He has worked across all aspects of game creation, with the exception of artwork and audio. Recognised as a pioneer of the mobile games industry, he has worked on projects with companies such as Disney, Valve, SEGA, Panasonic, Hasbro, Big Fish Games and Microsoft.

An avid observer of developments in digital content and mobile phones David founded Ludometrics in May 2010, putting 11 years of games industry experience to good use by collaborating and experimenting with media companies, science and arts groups. His collaboration with Glasgow-based theatre company, Cryptic, helped build an iPhone app that allowed users to interact with show staff and performers to unlock 'Cryptic Treats' (wallpapers and ringtones). More recently, he designed and created the Gary: Tank Commander iPhone app for The Comedy Unit, which has had over 50,000 downloads. Ludometrics is also working on its debut games for PC, Mac and iPhone. David sits on the Skillset National Board for Scotland, and has served as an adviser for a number of other companies, including Dynamo Games and Peoplemaps.
